A touch of humor and a lot of heart have been carefully crafted into the H.I.S. Players presentation of Heart of the Mesa that will inspire audiences to stand for strong marriages, families, and communities. This full length drama is inspired by Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, set in the late 19th century American west. It captures historical accuracy while revealing struggles of family life and relationships. Sparks fly between a prominent cattle baron and his headstrong wife. Their only daughter, returning from college has fallen for a debonair city boy, but a young man in her father's employ has caught her eye, will he lasso her heart? Amongst personal difficulties, the characters encounter new settlers claiming land and Comanche Indians under the threat of being relocated, which lead to government conflicts, verbal sparring, and brawls. When these community issues cause the husband and wife to fight side by side, will they rekindle their differences before their daughter makes her own decisions? Heart of the Mesa is a not to be missed, western saga filled with intriguing plots, humor, and memorable characters that are sure to delight audiences of all ages.
